Sharon Dove Attorney At Law


Mrs. Dove received her law degree from the New York University School of Law in 1998. Before attending law school, she graduated phi beta kappa from The Johns Hopkins University in 1992 and earned an M.A. in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley in 1993. 

Role at MHC

Mrs. Dove practices in the areas of eldercare, special needs and bankruptcy law. She handles a vast array of financial and disability issues in connection with government benefit programs, including Medicaid and Social Security. She focuses on asset protection planning for families with members who: (1) are elderly and may need long term care and/or (2) have special needs and cannot risk interference with their eligibility for government benefits. In the bankruptcy area, Mrs. Dove serves as counsel to trustee Langdon M. Cooper and represents both debtors and creditors.

Professional Bio

Mrs. Dove began her legal career at the New York firm of Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson, LLP.  In 2000, she moved to North Carolina, where she took on the role of rebuilding the Gastonia office of Legal Aid of North Carolina, Inc.  She served 13 years as the office’s Managing Attorney before joining MHC on June 1, 2016. While at Legal Aid, Mrs. Dove developed her office’s accessibility to the Spanish-speaking immigrant community and sensitivity to the issues that immigrants face here. This required her to become fluent in Spanish herself, although she had never before studied the language.

Personal Bio

Mrs. Dove lives in Belmont with her husband Scott, their teenage daughter, Scott’s father and multiple four-legged family members. Mrs. Dove spends her free time in all types of physical activity, including kayaking and yoga at present.
